November Meeting and Workshop

Saturday the 10th November will be our next meeting and workshop at the CWA Rooms, Tindale Street, Penrith. Starting at 12 noon with lunch and meeting, followed shortly afterwards

with our workshop.

Workshop costs; $15 for members and $20 for non members

This month it will be a workshop by;

Or you can draw your own pattern.

Projects you can use are t-shirts, Table runner, Placemats, Ordinary shirt, Handbag are just a few sugestions,  (Lorraine bought her t-shirt from Big W for $4) Other styles and sizes available. 

Soft Hydrangeas

Our August meeting was quick but informative meeting, I can also say relaxing as we sat and enjoyed coffee and all the home made sandwiches and lots of goodies that our members go to the trouble of preparing each meeting for our lunch together. Thank you ladies!

Roberta's workshop was great, we painted with fingers, water, paint, cloths and somewhere in there we had a brush in our hand. The results were stunning, everyone painted and each of the painting were as varied as our personalities. Thanks Roberta.

October No Frills

Take a look at our convention pieces for our 'Lotsa Latte' meaning we drink lots of coffee while painting, well we seem to do but I see a lot of half mugs of cold coffee hanging around somtimes, or we have used the coffee cup instead of our water to clean our brushes.

Places are still open for this weekend, we call it a 'No Frills' weekend, it is open to everyone, you do not have to be a member to join us, You are more than welcome to join us for the day workshop either Saturday the 27th october or Sunday the 28th of October, both at Mulgoa. There is always room to stay the day, a full day workshop with lunch, morning and afternoon tea for $65 for members and $75 for non Members is an Awsome price just check out the workshops!

If you are thinking about attending then act quick! we have plenty of spaces for either day, email Mountains and Rivers for more details and registration form, I will gladly post them out to you or email them.

Saturday will be; Wallaby, Tulips and Naive Italian lepards.

Sunday will be Pelican, Chopping/cutting boards coat rack and the Koi fish.

July AGM 2012

Welcome to our New Committee Members for 2012/2013.

The result of the AGM in July was thet 11 ladies were elected onto the committee on 14th July.

We had a guest teacher, Chris Roy, who demonstrated to us the use of pastels,

we all had a great messy time painting a rooster.

Our next meeting will be on the 4th of August 2012

Please be advised that our Mountains and Rivers Annual General Meeting for 2012. will be on the 14th July 2012.

Your Membership was due by  the end of June. If you have not paid your membership please pay on the 14th.

Meetings

We have two gorgeous workshops at our next two meetings, don't miss out on these, please phone or let me know by email if you would like to attend. Cost $15 for members and $20 for guests.

The first one is by Chris Roy, 'Chook in the Dawn Light'

On Saturday the 14th July, 2012 at 12 noon.

Try out this gorgeous pastel with Chris, you will be supprised how lovely it is to use pastels and with Chri's expert hand she will show you how you can achieve great results too.

Chris will supply the pastels, pattern and the Tex paper on the day.

Next one is by Roberta Small, 'Soft Hydrangeas'

On Saturday the 4th August, 2012 at 12 noon.

This time we will be painting this gorgeous piece with Roberta, the play with light makes it a special piece to paint. With Roberta's expert hand she will guide us all so we too can achieve gorgeous results.

Roberta will supply pattern, instructions and paints used on the day. Also the Some homework is needed on this one, Members see your Newsletter, Guests, please email me for more details.

May 2012 Mountains and Rivers Meeting and Workshop

This month of May 2012 at the Mountains and Rivers meeting.

We painted "his Masters Voice". by Laraine. Thankyou Laraine for such a lovely piece to teach us on the day, it was a pleasure to paint with you. An enjoyable workshop.

May Meet

Hi, Just a reminder that our next meeting will be on the 12 May, 2012. All members and guests are very welcome!

This meeting we will pick up our pieces for our painting convention; Not Long Now!!!!! Hope you all have thought of something fun to wear for Saturday night, and don't forget the 'decorative thongs' for Friday night.

Back to the meeting on the 12th May, Laraine will be leading us through her workshop 'Nipper' I am looking forward to painting this project and seeing everyone again.

Display at Penrith Library

Last Thursday three members of  Mountains and Rivers committee spent a few hours arranging a display of Members Folk Art and Decorative Painting's along with some painted Memory boxes. Thankyou to Merriel, Laraine and Lesley, you did a great job!

The Display is on at Penrith City Library from the 8th March until Friday the 30th March 2012.


Today, I arranged a photographer, with the Penrith Press at the display,  Merriel and myself  were on hand to help with the photo's. Kevin, our photographer took hundreds of photos' (it seemed that way) Kevin was very impressed with the quality of the painting's and every photo the comment was, "Oh look at that" "Oh that's nice" I think he is going to have a hard time choosing his photo's. Hopefully we will see them in the Penrith press soon!

There are three glass display units  full of painted items from our very talented members of Mountains and Rivers. I had a hard time trying to photograph the glass units so I apologise for the poor photo's, my camera is a Cannon IXUS 8015, digital but not SRL. It gives not bad photo's normally but not under the conditions of all that glass and lights.

Hope as many of you visit the Display if you can get there! for the country ladies who can not, here are a few photo's. How about adding a comment if you have seen the display? even if you are not a member. Thanks, Lyn.

Credit card Painting

 Have fun painting with credit cards and jo sonja paints. Thanks Larraine!

Missed out? not to worry, Check out the FDAA stand at the Royal Easter Show where you can book in for a lesson with Larraine. Paint a small canvas with a sea view using credit cards.

Our Guest Artist will be Larraine Wingfield!

Painting with old credit cards - not to worry- no need to cut up your credit cards just yet, Larraine has a few to go around, you may also bring your own old credit or store cards you no longer use.


This meeting will also have our Display of Convention Pieces for our May Convention, so please come along and see these cool projects our expert teachers have to share with us this year. All the projects are New for the Convention, they have not been painted anywhere else, seeing the painted pieces in person is much more fun and textile that seeing just a photo.

Around 30 ladies attended our meeting, we had Larraine to guide us through the afternoon of painting, Thanks Larraine we had a good time!

The display of folk and decorative painting for our Convention in May was quite impressive and the quality was outstanding. It is going to be hard to make choices for the three paintings we have to choose, well first in best dressed girls!!!!!
