7th September, Memory Box Painting Day

We are having a Painting day to paint some Much needed Memory Boxes.

Wednesday the 7th September

11am - 3.00pm
(or any time in between,                                         if you can spare an hour or two)
AT; CWA Rooms, Tindale Street, Penrith, NSW 2176

Everyone welcome to help. We will supply the boxes to paint, the patterns, the paints to use on the day. All you need to bring is something to eat and your brushes and usual painting supplies.

The boxes we are painting are in the main small papier ' mache ones, so if you do have any patterns that size it would be great.

If you are unable to make it on the day, donations of boxes either painted or unpainted will be most welcome.

Workshop with Kate Belton

Thanks Kate!

Such a relaxing workshop we shared on Saturday afternoon at Mountains and Rivers, Kate is an excellent teacher.

We all painted the background first, Hands on, Messy and a lot of Fun to paint, also it was quite different to what we are used to. Most enjoyable!
When everyone had settled down we carried on to paint our fish in a more Folk Arty sort of way.

AGM and Workshop

At the last meeting (AGM) we painted this lovely pattern by Christine Whipper, this was my finnished painting following Christine's instructions.
We had home work of painting the background, tracing on the pattern and blocking in the leaves, the rest was painted at the meeting, it just shows what you can achieve in three hours!

It was lovely to see everyone painting in the meeting, paintings and workshops were also on display for our "no frills" weekend in September, six projects to choose from. It will be very hard to choose this year as all six projects offer something different.
Look out for photo's later, check out the meetings page for more details on this weekend.

Thanks, Lyn, (Publicity)

2011 Convention

The weather was kind to us on our weekend away at Turners in Orange, four of us travelling together made our way up the mountains towards Orange, where we arrived in plenty of time to check in, joining the rest of the group for a lovely lunch before heading off towards the classroom and our chosen project.

Friday night was market/wine and cheese night where we were able to purchase items from our talented ladies. Of course the Mountains and Rivers stall was open all weekend too, ready on hand for all the forgotten brushes and oddments we need.

Saturday was our six hour workshop; we were served with scrumptious morning and afternoon teas, and another lovely lunch.

Saturday night our big event and a big thanks to the convention committee it was a great night. The theme was “Circus” and we all had to dress up. We had animals of all descriptions, animal trainers, tight rope walkers, clowns, candy floss, and not to forget our fortune teller’s one in particular went around everyone telling there ‘fortune’ (June made up stories) I laughed so much, it was quite funny.

Sunday morning we sobered up quickly, most of us woke to a power cut! The whole valley was out, but not for long. We still managed a cooked breakfast followed by our last workshop before lunch and the always sad farewells before travelling in our different directions home.

We had some great fun with some special ladies, 39 of us all together, just sharing painting time together, all with a love for painting. We had some great teachers available and as always the classes were enjoyable with the guidance of their expert advice. Thanks to Matisse we had some great prizes to give away, also to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle’s on Friday and Saturday night.
A big thanks to Laraine without we would not have had so much fun, and thanks to the rest of the committee who helped throughout the weekend.

Following are just a few of the photo's I took on the weekend, enjoy! Lyn.
